The Story of Sarah Everard and How #TextMeWhenYouGetHome Became a Viral Movement

The hashtag: #TextMeWhenYouGetHome was born after Sarah Everard, a 33-year-old marketing executive, was murdered while walking home in South London. As news spread, a worldwide public outcry ensued to reclaim the streets. Women expressed their frustration on social media by posting stories about their shared experiences. While never walking home alone and checking in on one another is not a new phenomenon, Everard’s story showcased what was already a grim reality. In the new AMS Pictures true-crime series, #TextMeWhenYouGetHome, we hear the stories of 10 women who were abducted, harmed, or killed while out by themselves.
