“FULL COURT: THE SPENCER HAYWOOD STORY” PREMIERES AT SIFF

Full Court: The Life of Spencer Haywood made its World Premiere at the Seattle International Film Festival on Saturday, May 21, at SIFF Cinema Uptown. Haywood, plus narrator Chuck D, director Martin Spirit, producer Kim Clemons and executive producers Dwayne Clark and Andy Streitfeld attended the documentary’s premiere.

Full Court traces Haywood’s personal and professional struggles and successes, from growing up poor in pre-civil rights Mississippi, winning Olympic gold, challenging the NBA’s “four-year rule,” marrying a famous supermodel, fighting addiction and finding redemption. Featured within the program are interviews with Haywood’s family and peers, including such notable sports figures as Lenny Wilkens, Charles Barkley, and Bill Bradley. The story culminates with Haywood’s long overdue enshrinement into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
