Ruth Paine Documentary to Air on KERA
AMS Pictures’ documentary, Ruth & Marina, will make its television premiere on KERA this Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at 10pm.
The program tells the story of Ruth Hyde Paine, a Quaker housewife who thought she was befriending a woman in need. But when Marina Oswald moved in with Ruth, so did a presidential assassin.
For the first time in 50 years, Ruth visits her old house and talks about her friendship with Marina, Lee Harvey Oswald’s suspicious behavior, the Oswald’s tumultuous marriage, the murder weapon that Oswald hid in her garage, and her inability to prevent one of the greatest tragedies of the 20th century.
Footage from the documentary will also be used in the newly opened Ruth Paine Museum, which is housed in the original Paine residence in Irving, TX.
The museum, which officially opened this past Wednesday, features Paine family photos, Warren Commission photos and other available material. The home itself has been restored to how it appeared in 1963, including a replica of an iconic couch that Ruth sat upon when she was interviewed by countless journalists.
