An Open Letter to AMS Pictures about Steve Jobs
Dear AMSers,
I want to recognize the passing of Steve Jobs – someone who has made such an enormous difference in this company – and the world. A hundred years from now, your great great grandchildren will learn about a man who changed the way we communicate, watch and listen. Only one or two people in your lifetime will make such a difference (Walt Disney comes to mind).
You may not know that when I started this company 29 years ago I went out and bought a PC – took it home and spent a weekend just trying to get it going – I never could. Instead I went out and bought the very first Macintosh computer – and I understood it perfectly. It grew along with AMS Pictures. Today we have over a dozen state-of-the-art HD edit suites that run on the best machines in the industry: MacPros.
Steve was such a visionary and imaginative guy. He was never happy with the status quo or doing the things the way that others did. He was all about creating something new.
If you have not watched his commencement speech from Stanford several years ago you need to:
So please at some point this week put your iPod, iPad and mouse down and say a prayer for the man who enabled this technology.
Here is one of my favorite quotes of Jobs:
“Your time is limited so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.”
Thanks,
Andy
