Continuing the Legacy
I was pleased to present excerpts from three of our AMS Pictures Original Programming documentaries at Southwest Airlines for their Annual Continuing the Legacy in Aviation Program recently. The event brings high school students from around the country to Dallas to learn about the future opportunities available to them in the aviation industry. The students tour the SWA facilities where they are exposed to a wealth of information and people, including some of the legendary Tuskegee Airmen.
The trilogy of films about the Tuskegee Airmen, which Tom Rubeck and I produced for AMS Pictures’ Black History Uncovered series, chronicles the history of this determined group of men and women who truly paved the way for countless aviators and aviation personnel employed today. Moments like this, when I get to share such inspirational stories, remind me how lucky I am to work in a field that has the ability to educate and encourage others to make a positive difference in the world.
I want to extend my thanks to the fantastic team at Southwest Airlines including Gordon Guillory, Jacque Mallard, and the inspiring Karen Price-Ward who founded the program. If you would like more information about the “Continuing the Legacy in Aviation” program please visit the Southwest Airlines blog. If you’re interested in our Black History Uncovered Series then you’re in the right place. Check out the Our Shows tab under the Original Programming department. You will find some, if I may say so, amazing and informative work in our documentaries section.
