Back to the Andes for Final Filming
Tonight we leave for our 1 week trip to Chile and Uruguay. This is our last film shooting trip to get the final footage needed for our documentary I Am Alive: Nando Parrado’s Story. This two-hour documentary film production will air later this year on a major cable channel. (Soon to be announced!)
Its winter in South America…a good time to get away from this Dallas heat. On this trip with me are my son Daniel, who is the AP and Spanish speaker for the project, as well as Brian McFarlin, our DP.
We’re flying from DFW to Santiago, Chile. Then tomorrow we bring out the big toys as we shoot our aerial footage sequences. We’ll be using one of the best Cineflex systems available using special helicopter mounts. And, of course we’ll be with one of the best pilots who has tremendous experience navigating the Andes Mountains. We’ll be flying up to 15,000 feet and expect to be in the air close to four hours.
Track our progress here on the Blog and at the film’s website, www.iamalive-thefilm.com, where a real-time GPS tracking link will show you exactly where we are. More soon!
